Next, I’ll explain the function of each effect and how settings should be applied to tailor
your sound. I’ve already touched on Monomizer, so let’s move on to the next effect in the
chain, the LFX-1310.
LFX-1310
This plug-in features 126 pre-configured settings and is optimized to be gentle on
your CPU. Click the “Editor” button in the lower left corner of the effect’s square
interface (left of the Bypass button), and you’ll open the effect’s settings window.
Figure 22: LFX-1310 Dead Room Settings.
As shown in Figure 22, click the “Load” button (A) and select 000~031 > 024 Dead
Room. This loads Dead Room settings, which simulate recording in a studio ideally
configured for vocal applications. As you can see, the Dead Room selection
combines two effects—one is dedicated to controlling Room Reverb (B), while the
other is used for adjusting a 3-band EQ (C).
To record CareerChat, we leave the settings as-is. However, you can experiment
with your sound by adjusting the settings to your liking. Each effect presents three
knobs that control the effect’s parameters. These knobs appear below the effect
name, which is displayed in the virtual LCD screen. Simply click on the knobs and
use your mouse to dial in your desired settings. Click on the “LFX-1310” text (D) and
select LFX-1310 > Show Manual for more instruction on plug-in operation.
After getting the settings adjusted to your liking, you can close the effect’s window
(click the dot in the upper left corner of the window). Don’t turn off LFX-1310 after
closing its settings window (don’t click the Bypass button). We want to combine it with
Excitifier, the next effect in the chain.
Excitifier
An exciter works by adding upper harmonics to your audio. It really adds warmth and
depth to your voice and makes it sound more “professional.” Click the Editor button
for the Excitifier effect to open its settings panel. We toyed around with the controls
for a while and ultimately settled on the parameters you see in Figure 23.
