Files ending in .mp4 can contain both audio and video.
Files ending in the .m4v extension contain video files.
Audio that is protected by Apple’s FairPlay digital rights management as
sold through the iTunes Store uses the .m4p extension. These files can only
be played on Apple-licensed products and applications.
AAC is used to create enhanced podcasts, which contain chapter markers where
titles, images and links are placed. Few products support the raw AAC file format.
However, simply renaming an AAC audio podcast file with an m4a extension will
allow it to play on most all devices. For example: myfile.aac should be renamed
myfile.m4a. A couple of caveats: this will not work on FairPlay protected recordings
or enhanced podcasts.
OK, sorry for the brief diversion from the task at hand, but it’s important for you to
understand the file format options available in AHP before proceeding. Now, to pick up
where we left off:
The rest of the settings in the Recording panel are left in their default position,
which works for us, but feel free to make changes as you deem appropriate.
When you’re done, click the “Effects” button. Here you’ll find rows and columns of
boxes in which you can select effects to add to your audio.
Adding Effects
We’ll create a sequence of effects, beginning with “Monomizer.” As shown in
Figure 19, click in the first box in the top row, first column (A) and a menu of
effects will appear. Select 4FX Effect > Monomizer.
