Ableton’s LIVE 24-Bit Recording Software ($399.95)
Ben Shanfelder’s Audio Recorder (Free, Mac,
http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17392) is another freebie recorder with
very limited features (it doesn’t even have an icon!). But it is stable and very easy to use
if all you need to do is record sound, sans effects or other frills.
Audio Recorder brings simplicity to recording.
Another recording program you might want to investigate is Humble Daisy’s ProfCast
($29.95, Mac, www.profcast.com/). ProfCast makes it easy to not only record class
lectures, but also turn the recordings into “enhanced” podcast files. Enhanced podcasts
contain chapter markers where titles, images and links are placed. The images in these
files can be viewed on iPods with a color screen, through iTunes or even in QuickTime.
