Figure 14: Behringer UB802 Mixer
This mixer features inputs for four instruments. Each mic has its own set of controls,
which is detailed below. Each input is known as a “channel.”
(A) This column of inputs and controls is known as a “channel strip.” A channel strip is
duplicated for every input channel on the mixer. The UB802 has four channel strips—
two stereo and two mono. A mixer capable of handling six microphone connections,
for example, would feature six channel strips.
(B) The UB802 features two mono microphone input jacks each for channel strips 1 and
2 (one XLR jack and one 1/4” jack). You can only use one jack per channel at any
given time, though
(C) The Gain dial controls the gain (volume) of the microphone’s output.
(D) These three knobs control the sound equalization (EQ) for this channel. This is a
three-band EQ, allowing high, mid and low frequency control.
