2.
Click the Toggle Info button to view and insert chapter details.
3.
Click Add Chapter to create a new chapter. Your newly created chapter will
appear in the project window. The first chapter must always be placed at the very
beginning of your recording, so this is where we’ll insert a podcast title slide.
4.
Drag your podcast title graphic into the picture window. This can be the same
image you used for the Album Art in the ID3 tag.
5.
Type the title of the chapter.
6.
If you’d like to insert a link with the photo, give the link a name here. A photo isn’t
required in order to add a link to your podcast. In fact, you could just enter a Title
and Start Time in the chapter in order to break your recording up by topic. Or,
simply enter a URL that corresponds with the topic being discussed.
7.
Obviously, no one is going to be able to click on the links if they’re listening on a
portable MP3 player, so use links judiciously. If you know that the majority of your
audience will listen to your lecture on a portable MP3 player, try not to make a
visit to a Web site necessary in order to understand the topic.
8.
This URL links to Professor Yearwood’s art history Web site. Subsequent
chapters contain links to full-sized images of the art.
9.
Define the point in the recording where you would like the chapter information to
appear. This is the title chapter, so its Start time will be at the beginning of the
recording (00:00:00). Six seconds into the lecture, Professor Yearwood begins
discussing “Café Terrace at Night,” so for that chapter, we will enter 00:00:06 for
the Start time.
10. Repeat steps 3-8 for each chapter you want to add.
11. Click Create Podcast to export your enhanced podcast file.
You’re probably wondering what the Set Start Time Now button is for. Well, to be honest,
I wonder the same thing. Theoretically, you should be able to play your podcast in the
program and simply click this button when you reach a spot in the recording at which
you’d like to begin a chapter. The program would then automatically enter the chapter
start time in the Start time field. I don’t know if it’s a program bug or what, but when I play
the podcast in ChapterToolMe, the playhead doesn’t play anything—it just zips to the end
of the recording. So, for now, the button is useless. Of course, I could be wrong about the
button’s function—there is no user manual to be found for this application.
So, there you have it. You now have a finished masterpiece ready to be shared with the
world. Which bring us to our next topic …

There are many options available for posting and disseminating your recordings on the
Internet. Like everything else, the path you choose will largely depend on the technical
