As shown in Figure 52, the selected audio is extracted from the original waveform and
placed into its own channel, with silence occupying its previous position. When working
with multiple tracks, it is often helpful to name them according to content. To do this, click
on the track’s Control Box pulldown menu and select Name, as shown in Figure 53.
Naming tracks is especially useful if you have three or more tracks stacked in your
workspace.

Now that you have split your selections into separate tracks, you can freely move and
manipulate them independently of each other. Using the Time Shift Tool, drag the audio
segments to their new locations, as shown below.
